O F YOUNG We have had a number of reptiles hatch or give birth and some of the most interesting are listed here: DATE INCUBATION PERIOD SAURlA Phrynosoma solare Phrynosoma douglassi SERPENTES II hatched 30 born 6 hatched 7 born 8 born 10born 3 hatched 3 hatched October 1956 July 1960 64 days Arizona elegans Crotalur cerastes Crotalus p. pricei Crotalur s. scutulatus Lampropeltis pyromelana Rhinocheilus 1. lecontei Trimorphodon lambda hatched 16 September 1963 23 September 1953 23 September 1953 16 July 1957 14 August 1957 16 August 1957 I September 1957 86 days 55 days 53 days 72 days During the past year two snakes that we believe to be of record length have been found. The first was a Glossy snake Arizona elegans eburnata which measured approximately 147.5 cm overall. The second, a garter snake Thamnophis marcianus nigrolateris, was I 19.5 cm overall. Some interesting and unusual snakes that we have had in our collection include a juvenile twoheaded gopher snake Pituophis melanoleucus a#nis which ate lizards with the left head and lived from 19 March 1955 to 4 July 1955; three albino gopher snakes of the same species (one captive raised, the other two http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Zoo Yearbook Wiley
