Mabuza steps aside for heir apparent Mashatile.Deputy President David Mabuza resigned on February 4th to pave the way for his replacement by the newly‐elected deputy leader of the governing African National Congress (ANC) party, Paul Mashatile, public broadcaster SABC reported.Mabuza announced his resignation at his brother's burial service in his eastern home province of Mpumalanga, the station said.“The president will announce that Mabuza has left. I promised you that I will respect the president until I leave. I hope that those who are coming in will also respect the president,” he said.“I am making space for the one elected at the conference because I can see he [Mashatile] is also making a few moves.
