Zoos and Aquariums of the World The zoos and aquariums of the world, together with a number of institutions with important animal collections, such as primate research centres, universities and bird parks, are listed alphabetically under the towns in which they are situated; the towns, in turn, are listed alphabetically under their country and, in the case of institutions in the USA and Canada, under the state as well. Institutions that are not open to the public or can be visited by appointment only are given at the end of the general list for the country concerned. In most cases, attendance and animal figures refer to 2011. Addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and staff names refer to 2011 or are updated to the most recent information made available to us. The abbreviation Att: means the number of visitors during 2011. Figures for animals relate to 31 December 2011. The date of last update is given at the end of each institution. In general, information has not been included if it pre‐dates 2010. Where an institution is a member of a national or regional association the acronym for the association appears at the end of the entry.
