Against this background, it is only natural to take a somewhat critical attitude to the release of yet another study on the crisis unless it has something very new and different to offer. “Nowhere to Hide” has both strengths and weaknesses as a contribution to the growing literature on the global financial crisis. On the positive side, the authors deserve credit for putting together a very well written multi- disciplinary account of the crisis that will be easily digestible by a relatively wide audience of economists and non-economists alike. In addition, the authors have provided a very useful discussion of the spillovers of the crisis on Asia and the near-term challenges the crisis posed for the highly export-dependent economies in the region.
