It will be the most economic challenge and social barrier to Asia’s future. While the role of Asia in the global economy has become more important than ever, it is necessary to understand economic consequences of population aging in Asia. Therefore, the Singapore Economic Review publishes this special issue to discuss poten- tially serious economic issues of population aging in Asia. This special issue has selected ten from more than 50 submissions. As the guest editor of this special issue, I have tried very hard to collect papers that focused on economic issues of population aging in Asia and that also complemented each other in some ways. Prior to previewing each paper, I must say that this special issue is an informative and useful collection of papers for people who are interested in frontier research of economics of aging, especially in Asia.
